Before you callNo USDOT or NYDOT number is printed on maffuccimoving.com; the record here was matched by street address, so ask the company to confirm USDOT 106412 is theirs before you book.

The number is not printed on maffuccimoving.com. We found it through a marketplace listing and confirmed it on SAFER by the street address, which is the weakest kind of match in this directory and is flagged as such. The company is a Bekins Van Lines interstate agent.

Its FAQ is unusually specific about estimates, deposits, payment methods and valuation, and those terms are set out below in our words. Insurance on file and the New York State certificate could not be checked.

A six digit USDOT, a 1989 safety rating and a 2026 fleet filing

USDOT 106412 is a low number, which usually means an old registration, and the safety rating on the snapshot is Satisfactory with a rating date of 03/02/1989. The record lists a review date of 05/15/2014 and the type Non-Ratable. The fleet figures are current: the MCS-150 filing behind the 20 power units and 15 drivers is dated 01/09/2026. Carrier operation is Interstate, the entity type is Carrier, and the authority line covers Motor Carrier of Household Goods and Motor Carrier of Property (Except Household Goods).

The about page says the company owns trucks and crews, and the FAQ describes equipment from box trucks up to 48 foot trailers. The record and the site agree on the point that matters for an interstate job: this is a carrier with its own equipment and its own authority, as well as an agent for Bekins.

The record match rests on an address, because the site prints no USDOT number

Do not skip this

We looked for a USDOT or NYDOT number on the home page, the FAQ and the about page on 21 October 2026 and found none. The pointer to 106412 came from a moveBuddha listing, which is a marketplace source. We then pulled the SAFER snapshot and matched the physical address, 140 New Highway, North Amityville, to the address on the site. That is enough to print the record here, with this caveat on the page.

New York’s advertising rule, 17 NYCRR 814.1(a), says a certificated mover’s certificate number goes in all advertising, and FMCSA’s red flag list includes a site with no information about its registration. Ask for both numbers before you book. A company this established should produce them on the first call.

Founded in 1909 by one line on the home page, over 50 years by another

The home page says family owned Long Island and NYC movers since 1909 and prints a 110+ years of moving experience line. The same page also says family owned and operated for over 50 years. The about page says serving you since 1909. All three claims are first party and we show them together without choosing. One reading is that the business dates to 1909 and the current family’s ownership to a later date, but the site does not say that, so neither do we.

Binding estimates, a deposit at booking and certified funds for long distance

The FAQ says local moves are generally priced by the hour and long distance by shipment weight and distance, with no figures given. We read it as a policy page rather than a rate card. It says the price quoted after a thorough survey is the price you pay if the inventory and conditions do not change, which is a binding estimate in FMCSA’s terms. Surveys are in home or virtual.

No deposit amount is published. We found no NYSDOT rule that caps or bans deposits, and the Department of State’s August 2025 alert says reputable companies generally do not require significant advances. Ask for the figure in writing.

Hourly rate, minimum and travel time

not published for a local move (FAQ read 21 October 2026).

Deposit

may be collected at booking to hold the date, amount not published; balance due on delivery (first party FAQ).

Payment

cash, certified bank check or major credit card; long distance moves typically need certified funds or a credit card (first party FAQ).

Estimate

binding after an in home or virtual survey (first party FAQ).

Released value at $0.60 per pound is included; claims promised in 30 and 120 days

The FAQ prints two liability options. Released Value is included at no added cost at $0.60 per pound per article. Full Value Protection repairs or replaces at current market value less a deductible, at a price the FAQ does not give. The released figure matches the federal rule for interstate moves, where 49 CFR 375.303 caps released value at 60 cents per pound per article. FMCSA’s own example: a 25 pound television lost under released value pays $15.

The FAQ also commits to acknowledging a claim within 30 days and resolving it within 120 days. Those figures line up with NYSDOT’s consumer page. The regulation, 17 NYCRR 814.8, says 30 days to acknowledge and 90 days to pay, decline or offer settlement. We print both sources rather than reconcile them.

Two things no one could check online on 21 October 2026, and the phone number that fixes one

The FMCSA Licensing and Insurance page for USDOT 106412 returned only a blank search form on 21 October 2026, so the insurance line here reads could not check. The state certificate reads the same way, because NYSDOT’s CarCert search was marked under development.

  1. Call NYSDOT at (518) 457-6512 or email nymoving@dot.ny.gov: give the name Maffucci Storage Corp and ask whether a household goods certificate is in force.
  2. Open https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx: enter 106412 for the snapshot we read.
  3. Open https://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_carrlist: enter 106412 and read the insurance lines.

Ask them this, in writing

  1. Is USDOT 106412, in the name Maffucci Storage Corp, your record, and what is your NYSDOT certificate number?
  2. For a long distance move, will the bill of lading be in your name or in Bekins Van Lines’ name?
  3. What is the deposit amount at booking, and is it refundable if the date changes?
  4. What does Full Value Protection cost on my shipment, and what are the deductible choices?
  5. Is the local hourly rate, minimum and travel time rule available in writing before the survey?
  6. Which founding date is right, 1909 or over 50 years, and who owns the company today?

Print this page and tick each one off on the call.

What we read, and whenWe read maffuccimoving.com (home, FAQ and about pages) on 21 October 2026, the SAFER snapshot for USDOT 106412 (dated 10/19/2026, read 21 October 2026) and a moveBuddha listing that pointed us to the number (marketplace, 21 October 2026). The FMCSA Licensing and Insurance page returned a form only and NYSDOT CarCert showed its search under development, both on 21 October 2026. Regulatory wording comes from 49 CFR Part 375, FMCSA’s liability page, NYSDOT’s moving page, 17 NYCRR 814.1 and 814.8, and the NY Department of State alert of 19 August 2025, all read 21 October 2026.
