Before you callThe site prints no USDOT number and its Riverhead address differs from the Sound Beach address on the FMCSA record, so confirm USDOT 1292731 is theirs before relying on the printed valuation terms.

The physical address on the federal record is 54 Brightwaters Drive in Sound Beach, a different town from the one on the site. The USDOT number is not printed on the site; we found it through a marketplace listing and confirmed the legal name on SAFER. What sets this company apart is its FAQ, which prints the valuation terms most movers leave to the paperwork.

The local figure is $0.30 per pound per article, the long distance figure is $0.60, and an add on is priced at $0.50 per $100 of declared value. This page uses those figures to explain valuation. Insurance on file and the state certificate could not be checked.

Four power units on the record, two addresses, and a number the site does not print

Do not skip this

The federal record is short. Entity type Carrier, carrier operation Interstate, no out of service date, no safety rating assigned. The MCS-150 behind the 4 power units and 3 drivers is dated 12/03/2024, so the fleet count is close to two years old on our read date. The FAQ describes a fleet of moving trucks and long haul trucks without a count. The site names regular trips to North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Two gaps need a question. The record’s address is in Sound Beach and the site’s is in Riverhead, both in Suffolk, and neither explains the other. And because the site prints no USDOT or NYDOT number, our match ran through a moveBuddha listing (marketplace) to the SAFER legal name (FMCSA record). Ask the company to confirm 1292731 is theirs and to give its NYSDOT certificate number, which state rule 17 NYCRR 814.1(a) says belongs in its advertising.

The FAQ prints $0.30 per pound local and $0.60 per pound long distance

Valuation is the mover’s liability for your goods, set per pound per article. It decides what a broken dresser is worth to the company. Samonas prints three numbers. Local moves are covered at $0.30 per pound per article. Long distance moves include $0.60 per pound per article liability at no charge. A Full Value Protection upgrade is offered with three deductible options. The FAQ adds that by law the company is not permitted to offer insurance. Valuation is carrier liability; insurance is a policy from an insurer.

Why $0.60 is the federal released value and why the local figure is a tariff matter

For interstate moves FMCSA sets released value at no more than 60 cents per pound per article (49 CFR 375.303, read 21 October 2026). FMCSA’s liability page gives the example that explains it: a 25 pound television lost in transit under released value brings $15, because the payout follows the weight of the item and ignores its price. Samonas’ long distance figure of $0.60 is that federal released value, printed in dollars.

The alternative, Full Value Protection, makes the mover responsible for replacement value. The 2022 Rights and Responsibilities handbook sets its minimum at $6.00 per pound of shipment weight, and movers may set a higher minimum. The valuation guide prints both FMCSA minimums.

Local moves inside New York follow a different book. NYSDOT regulates them, and we found no state minimum cents per pound figure in the statute or the booklet. The figure lives in each mover’s filed tariff. Samonas’ $0.30 is therefore a tariff term, not a legal floor we can cite, and the booklet’s advice applies: have the mover explain the minimum standard liability and how to buy more.

The add on costs $0.50 per $100 declared, with a $2,500 minimum value

For local jobs the FAQ prices extra cover at $0.50 per $100 of declared value, with a minimum declared value of $2,500 and a minimum cost of $12.50. Read that as a rate rather than a quote: you pick the value you declare, and the charge scales with it. We print no worked examples beyond the company’s own minimum; any other figure would be our arithmetic. Ask for the exact charge on the value you want to declare, and what deductible applies to a claim.

Four more items from the same FAQ belong in writing.

Deposit

a small deposit is required to secure the date, with the balance due on move day.

Payment

major credit cards, certified checks and cash; personal checks are refused on move day.

Local quote

fixed, after an in home walkthrough; the FAQ says there are no virtual walkthroughs for local moves.

Long distance quote

described as binding, which under FMCSA rules means the charge at delivery cannot exceed the estimate unless you add services.

Insurance filings and the state certificate are unread, and here is the lookup

FMCSA’s Licensing and Insurance page would not show us the BIPD and cargo filings for USDOT 1292731 on 21 October 2026; it returned a blank form that needs a submission we could not make. NYSDOT’s CarCert search was marked Functionality Under Development the same day. Both lines on this page read could not check.

If you move out of state with this company, you are owed the Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet with the written estimate, and a written claim must be filed within 9 months of delivery.
